So I restrung, reset eyes, hot glue sueded and put s-hooks in Rion's hands yesterday. He's needed a new wig for a while now and I got one as a free gift from a Dollmore GO. I put the wig on him and was like "nope". The character he is based on has blond hair but I just couldn't find the right blond. I had a fur MSD wig lying around and decided to try it on for fun.

Its adorable! He's the blond (darker blond with brown) punk boy I had in my mind! I swear he's like a new doll but still the same. ^^ *squee*
So after all the modding (had to mod the hands to be s-hook friendly) and revamping Rion is back!!! *luffs*

On another BJD note:
Lilia and Kanon (two dolls I had bonded with the least) make the cutest couple! I was restringing and sueding Lilia and sueding Kanon so they were both out. I set them next to each and it was just adorable!!!
Technically Lilia and Rion are supposed to be together but SD Lilia (based on Galerians 2) is more protective of Rion than she is reliant on him. Since I have no intentions of making Rion SD I don't see them (Rion and Lilia) being together so having her with Kanon is perfect! Besides Kanon was looking lonely, I'm glad I can give him a girl to be with. ^________^

Souldoll, seriously, why have I not heard more about this company?!

I've been looking at different companies lately and I must say, Souldoll is a strong contender for one who will be getting some of my future monies. ^^
They actually have a tiny I like! *shock and awe*

Sven (my car) is currently in the shop. This morning I started having (what i believe) is transmission issues.

I was driving to work this morning, got on I-30, no problems. I exit on to the access road, no problem. I stop at the light and then accelerate to go and my car revs but doesn't go, then goes. I chalk this up to the sand on the road because of the ice. Then as I continue down this moderately busy side street it all goes to hell.

I press the gas and the car wont accelerate, its as if its in neutral. BTW I have an automatic transmission. After a while it will go into first but never switch into 2nd and wont reverse. So after SLOWLY getting to a side street (about 2 blocks from work) I decided to call CarMax to inquire about my extended warranty. This SHOULD be covered but I haven't heard anything yet.

Anyone with car knowledge have input? Does this sound like transmission issues?
Not that I was going to do anything but study this weekend anyways, looks like I suddenly don't have much of a choice in the matter. ^^;

oh snap! Its this Saturday!!
While I originally had nothing planned for that day other than prepare for finals next week, I now know I'll be doing so in frills. ^^
I may only be going to the library with the sis but I'll be going in loli. I may drag this over to Sunday when I actually DO have plans.

BUT

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Saturday is the day to celebrate lace and frills. Wear if you got 'em, love 'em if you don't. ^__^

So for Yulecon I decided I wanted to combine two great loves in my life, cosplay and dolls. ^^ So I decided to make a DoD Tender Shall costume; BUT I've only had the past week or so to work on it. ^^;

OK so for SO for my grad program I have to do a internship type thing called "practical experience". I was thinking about what interests I wanted and then randomly (kismit if you will) ran across an article where an MPH (master of public health) student in CA went to Japan.
"DO WANT" I thought instantly.

So after having some appointments with my coordinator, she said not only was doing the practical experience abroad acceptable it was common and welcome. ^__^

NOTES about Japan:
So you can't really just randomly e-mail someone and ask to work there. Its very much a word-of-mouth type system. Well, naturally I don't have any contacts there BUT my coordinator had ONE. She sent that person an e-mail and after a few "I can't but I'll pass your name along" and "you should try contacting so-and-so", I got an interesting e-mail!

November is shaping up to be an awesome month for concerts! And here I was thinking that this Fall concert season would be all dry since Flogging Molly isn't coming to Dallas this year (thanks ACL).

Miyavi (which I assume most of you know about by now) is November 2nd at the House of Blues(less than 2 weeks away)!! *squee*

Last week Kyle and I got tickets to see:
Imogen Heap!


November 18th at the Granada Theater. Oddly enough the tickets for Imogen Heap were HALF the cost of Miyavi's. Not sure why, perhaps the venue, perhaps his travel costs are more. No matter, I'm super excited to see both Miyavi and Imogen Heap!

So I decided to finally attempt to make me a pair of bloomers. I have a couple of skirts that really don't need a petti and would be PERFECT for bloomers. I found this great tutorial on how to make some simple bloomers:

It took me about 3 hours or so to cut and make everything and here is the end result of my first attempt at bloomers!

Second post today! Wow!

Ok so I've been a bit delayed in posting new lolita I've made. In all fairness this one is kinda hard to get a good shot of.
Basically my idea was to have a double layer skirt with the front panel shorter than the rest of the skirt.
NOTE: I wore this outfit to see Paranormal Activity out in Plano. Amongst all the people wearing uggs (seriously it could've been an ugg convention) I stood out quite a bit.

So for Halloween, Kyle and I decided to do Gomez and Morticia Addams. Its actually quite a perfect match for us. Gomez is Puerto Rican and I speak French! ^0^

I wasn't going to do anything for Yulecon BUT if I have time I might try to get this done:

I already have the white boots and everything! I'd just need to buy like 4 yards of white fabric! It'd be like combining two of my hobbies into one awesome outfit!!!

Ever since I heard he was playing in the US, in Texas and Dallas at that I've been giddy over all things Miyavi.

I did the mini photoshoot with MNM MYV and the tickets (which I still covet dearly). I've RSS'd his twitter and blog, normally I wouldn't do that but he posts video and commentary after every concert (which is really cool i think).
To make matters "worse" his worldwide fan club became operational and I totally joined! I'm member 90, btw the dollar to yen rate is ghey right now! I went ahead and joined in hopes that the card and goodies will arrive before the concert. ^_____^

I JUST entered a contest to win some autographed calligraphy.
I've already planned out my outfit to wear:
Either the same outfit I wore to his concert in April or the same thing with his shirt instead of the kimono top. Either way my crazy white wig o' awesome shall be worn and I shall resume my place as the white gaijin beacon. ^^

BTW - I know some other DFW people are going, what time are you all arriving? Did you get "pit" tickets or balcony? We should totally group up and be a scream mass of win. ^^

Because at the end of the day how can you resist this?

So Miyavi is currently on a world tour, Neo Tokyo Samurai Black tour to be exact, and he's coming to my town (Dallas, Texas)!!! Today I picked up the tickets and what better way to show my love than to have my MNM Miyavi hand them to me!

I just checked the weather, a nice 86ºF, partly cloudy, so I shouldn't be roasting. ^__^

I'm thinking either my red meta dress (tho the empire waist isn't all that flattering for taller girls such as myself), new blue plaid ensemble or my pink AnnaHouse skirt.

So Afest rocked!
I remember now why I love this convention so much. Its smaller, better laid out and just more laid back than most. I think perhaps because its a non-profit con (like not even the head is paid) that its more about the fun than the money making aspect.

As most know I had an artist alley table that I shared with McFarland. We each made the cost of the table back and more. ^__^ I haven't calculated the exact amount I made but it was enough to make me want to do it again. My hats were a smash! I had to have a hat making party in my room on Saturday night to replenish supplies.
The shirts weren't as popular, I wonder if its the cost ($20) or what, but next time around I plan to make ones with BJDs on there. I had my dolls modeling the hats and they drew a lot of attention so I think I'll start catering to that crowd more. ^__^ Besides, I haven't really seen BJD shirts for people very much; this should be rectified.

Cosplay:
Kyle, Carcie and I group cosplayed most the weekend.
Friday was the walk-on cosplay contest so we wore P4. Kyle bleached his hair to be Kanji, he's so hardcore. It actually looked a lot better than I thought. ^__^ Hmm hot Kanji.
Saturday & Sunday we were TWEWY.
I was Kariya, Kyle was Minamimoto and Carcie was Neku. We actually got complimented by the Kenshin group (the ones who won best comedy skit) for having well done cosplays AND doing characters most don't do. We blushed, it was awesome. ^__^

Lolita:
I wore lolita everyday, it was awesome!
I wore a simple one on Friday, Putumayo shirt with Bodyline skirt and black OTK socks. It was great because with the shirt I was wearing under the Putumayo shirt you could see my tattoo. ^__^
Saturday I wore my new outfit. ^__^ I only have one pic that was taken from above.

Sunday I wore my hand made pink skirt with underbust vest. I have a video of me doing the beginning moves to Thriller in that outfit. The moves aren't exactly right but its interesting to see; I'll have to post the video here later.
Monday was a real casual lolita but i still got some looks when i wore it to Taco Bueno that afternoon on my way home. ^0^

Dolls:
The doll panel at Afest went pretty well. I haven't heard anything back from attendees so i'll just assume it was AWESOME. ^0^
I made a restringing video and had Kyle narrate it in his "Saw" voice (the voice of Jigsaw). Most people seemed to really like that.
It was awesome having Kyle and Kit help me out. I liked having Kyle on "stage" with me so other male doll owners could feel they weren't alone or weird. Kit was great about making raffle tickets and adding in valuable tidbits to my talking.
I made the official panel portion much shorter this time so there could be plenty of time for photos and talking. It worked out really well I think. ^__^

That time is drawing near and I have so much left to do. I didn't realize I had so many things going on until they all started to become "due" at the same time. ^^;

Did some work recently on my Kariya Koki (The World End With You) cosplay.
I styled the wig, made the "chain" thingy and made one wing. I'm going to have to eventually have both wings connected via clear fishing line to keep them upright and not floppy DESPITE having a wire frame. *sigh*

I recently discovered I've misplaced ALL my wig caps so I shall be getting more of those. Also the hoodie skeleton isn't exact but this is more of a modded cosplay than a made from scratch one. ^^;

Afest:
Can NOT wait!!! I'm getting my cosplay finished up and making new hats all the time. I'm not sure how many to make. ^^; Probably somewhere between 10 & 20. I also am making the final decisions on the designs for the shirts and they're going off to press hopefully this week! My awesome friend McFarland did the drawings, she has no idea about lolita so its really great to get her artistic perspective on it.
I plan to have a new lolita skirt ready for Afest too! Nothing too fancy, but for sure more on the sophisticated, mature side of lolita. Dark red and black lace. ^__^

Cosplay:
So far I'm doing well. Luckily Kariya is a simple cosplay and with everything that's happened in the past 3-4 months I'm VERY thankful for it. I have the pants, shoes, and jacket done. MIGHT add some detailing to the shoes to make them more accurate but really not 100% necessary. I finished the chain last night. Now I just need to make the wings and find some glasses, something I'm doing tomorrow. ^^
Thankfully I already have the wig styled, I just need to get new wig caps so i can properly try everything on and see it all together.
Izanagi is all ready to go, just need to do some minor touching up on the cod piece and the white shoulder straps. I plan to do these the Thursday before the con at the latest. ^^;

School:
Classes start tomorrow. I'm glad for something to focus on during the day aside from work. Work is kinda hard for me right now, I like it but since it requires SO MUCH training I can't really do too much on my own. I spend a lot of time at the comp wishing I had something to do but feeling too guilty to ask anyone for stuff. I did that in the past but to little avail. BUT I'm slowly getting trained so hopefully things will pick up a bit more.
I'm kinda nervous to see how going to school FT and working FT is going to work out. I did it a bit at the tail end of summer II but summer courses are so accelerated its not an accurate gauged. THO i must say I felt pretty worn out.

Lets hope my Fall grades remain so high. *crosses fingers*

Ok so that was longer than I had expected. At some point I swear I'm going to talk about my mom's wedding. Lets just say, she's happy and I can tell; I no longer have to worry if she's lonely and that's comforting to know. ^__^

I've been experimenting making mini top hats for dolls and found Kanon to be the perfect willing test subject. ^__^
